The Video game critics gave Max Payne 2 extremely positive reviews. Praise focused on its action & story, while criticism targeted its tiny length. Despite positive reception, the game sold poorly, leading Rockstar Games’ parent company Take-2 Interactive to cite Max Payne 2’s sales as a reason for company’s reforecast finances of 2004. Max Payne 2 received numerous industry awards, including marvelous Art Direction at Golden Satellite Awards 2004, and Editors’ Choice Awards from the GamePro, IGN, and GameSpy. A sequel, Max Payne 3, was released on December 23, 2012.

Max Payne 2 PC Game is a 3rd -person shooter, in which the player assumes the role of the Max Payne, but also plays as Mona Sax in the few levels. Initially, the player’s weapon is a 9mili meter pistol. As they progress, the players access other weapons as well as other handguns, shotguns, submachine guns, assault rifles, sniper rifles & hand-thrown weapons. To move this game along, the player is told what the next aim is through Max’s internal monologue, in which Max iterates what his then steps should be.
When first played, the game offers 1 difficulty level that is adjusted automatically if game is too difficult for the player. For example, if player’s character dies too many times, enemies’ artificial intelligence is made less effective, while more health in form of painkillers is made available. After completing game once, other complex levels are unlocked. 2 special game modes are also activated: New York Minute & Dead Man Walking. In New York minute, player is given a score based on time taken to complete each level. Dead Man Walking mode places Max in one of 5 scenarios, in which he must survive for as long as possible even as fighting off endlessly respawning enemies.
