Ubuntu不会涉足PC游戏

Canonical的产品经理Gerry Carr向记者介绍了一些有关Ubuntu的现状和未来规划，比如该系统最新一版是804 LTS（Long Term Service），计划4月24日发布，届时将首家集成Firefox 3。
Ubuntu的开发团队总计105人，分布在25个国家；基本上每隔18个月发行一个新版本，804在桌面领域有三年的生命期，服务器端则是五年。
当问及该系统是否会考虑游戏软件时，Gerry Carr排除了这种想法：
“老实说，不会。我们不想成为游戏平台，与游戏有关的开销太大了，你当然会见到更多Linux游戏，但除非Linux遍布世界每个角落，否则不会有重量级作品出台；特别是游戏机现在正处强势，买台Xbox把它和TV一接你就玩上了。”
但Gerry Carr对移动平台很感兴趣，有支专门的团队负责将Ubuntu移植至手机等便携式移动设备中，预计年内就会见分晓。

另外，乌克兰厂商GSC Game World宣布《S.T.A.L.K.E.R.：Clear Sky》将在8月29号作全球发布。
