KDE桌面环境更名 新增Plasma上网本

KDE社区的Linux桌面环境KDE一直以来和GNOME并驾齐驱，颇受欢迎，近日KDE社区决定更改这个使用了长达13年的品牌名称，重新对KDE命名是为了“从专注于Linux开源桌面转变为完全的开源社区”。
KDE官方发言人Stuart Jarvis表示：“该应用程序架构已经成长、成熟而且实现了跨平台”，确实，KDE现在已经提供了Windows和Mac版本，虽然仍然处在测试阶 段，Jarvis补充说，KDE已经从一个单一的桌面环境成长为了通用桌面环境，创建了大量的免费软件，为各地的人们提供服务。
KDE一直以来代表“K Desktop Environment”（K桌面环境），然而随着KDE内容的扩展这一名称显得含糊不清，甚至会误导用户。KDE社区仍然会继续使用KDE的简称，但是 它不再指桌面环境，而是代表“KDE, the community”（KDE社区），为终端用户开发免费软件，并且包括KDE社区创造的技术品牌。
此外，KDE Workspaces将分成两个不同的品牌：KDE Plasma Desktop（Plasma桌面）和KDE Plasma Netbook（Plasma上网本）；用来开发应用程序的KDE技术被命名为KDE Platform，KDE应用程序仍然叫KDE Applications。
Jarvis指出，不久前发布的KDE 4.3仍然是Workspaces、Platform和Applications的组合，不过下一次发布就会被命名为KDE Software Compilation 4.4。
