Principle

DSG Realsync  is to analyse the oracle redo log, translated it into the SQL statement to the target system.

DSG Realsync is based on the logic-level synchronization for oracle.

use block-level replication across any platform.

Is based on the block-level data replication.

This software only copies the data simply ,it do not concern the content and context.

Supported application types

DSG Realsync can support heterogeneous environment data replication, and its purpose is to support more types of user applications,not only disaster recovery, Reasync are widely used in in data repliation, data exchange among apllicaitons,data migration  etc.

¨         DISASTER Recovery: Oralce database disaster recovery, when the production database can not be used, The backup system can quickly take over the application.

This is is basically similar to the position with EMC RecoverPoint.

¨         Report center : The purpose of data replication is not only for  disaster recovery,  DSG Realsync is able to change the  disaster into report center,query center, ETL  data source center other data exchange center . This will reduce the pressure on the main system's resources, improving IT systems to respond to the level of service.

This is the key difference between DSG Realsync and  EMC RecoverPoint, because the backup database of DSG Realsync  is OPEN, and can provide real-time data queries, which EMC RecoverPoint can not do.

¨         Data Integeration tools: DSG Realsync data replication is based on the table, row and data item level, so not only used as a data mirroring, more importantly, it’s used for the enterprise data exchange tools between different systems interact, for example, it can be used in data warehouse system ,which can provides incremental changes to enhance the efficiency of ETL tools. Which EMC RecoverPoint can not do  as CDP solution.

¨         DataMigration between cross-platform: RecoverPoint can replication cross-platform ,but  it is only between EMC DMX disk arrays and other non-EMC array migration; DSG Realsync not only in Heterogeneous Disk Array and more importantly, between the type of the server can also be heterogeneous. However, due to the specificity of ORACLE, RecoverPoint an not used for ORACLE database migration between different servers types.

EMC RecoverPoint’s main function is to provide  continuous data protection and continuous remote replication for on-demand protection and recovery at any point in time.

¨         Data RECOVERY:  RecoverPoint is used for data recovery, when the production database can not be used,the backup system can recover at any point in time.

Difference in technical details

Advantages：

¨         Target ORACLE system are open , it can be used for report,query,etl and other data read appication

¨         cross-platform ,including disk arra systems ,server systems

¨         selective replication, support table level ,row level ,data item level replication

¨         1:n ,n:1 replication structure

¨         low bandwidth

Disadvantages：

¨         only used for data recover ,can not used for any other data exchange and data intergeration application.
