ubuntu9.04 default runlevel

Today,when I customed the vsftpd and ssh to autorun at startup,I changed the symbol link in /etc/rc5.d "S50ssh" and "S50vsftpd" to "K50ssh" and "K50vsftpd",then reboot to test if they are not autorun.But I'm failed.They still autorun.Later,I did the same changes in directory /etc/rc2.d,I'm success.
So,we can see the default runlevel on ubuntu9.04 is 2.
