Novell has quietly released a public "sneak preview" of its upcoming SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop and Server, version 11, labelled as "RC4". From the product's description page: "SUSE Linux Enterprise 11 delivers interoperability and mission-critical support for your complete computing environment - desktop to data center, physical and virtual. Get your sneak preview today and see how it can help you reduce cost, complexity and risk." The distribution is built on top of openSUSE 11.1, with Linux kernel 2.6.27.15, X.Org 7.4, and a choice of desktop environments between GNOME 2.24 and KDE 4.1.3. New features include PAM configuration, SELinux enablement, improved update stack with Zypper, LVM2 (replaces EVMS2), ext3 as the default file system and various other improvements.
