Auke Kok has announced the availability of Lunar Linux 1.6.1 RC2 installation CD images: "With great pleasure we release 'Moose Drool', also known as the Lunar-Linux 1.6.1-rc2 Installer ISO. This is the first production-ready ISO release that installs both on x86_64 and i686, which gets us ready for our final 1.6.1 release on 2 architectures. This ISO comes with GCC 3.4.6, glibc 2.3.6, linux 2.6.19.2, Perl 5.8.8, and other rock solid base components. The new kernel means better PATA and SATA support. Updated discover allows better hardware recognition, and smooth installation on non-common hardware. The x86_64 version is pure 64-bit and thus does not provide GRUB as a boot loader."
