Auke Kok has announced the first release candidate for Lunar Linux 1.6.1, a source-based distribution originally forked from Sorcerer: "I'm glad to release 1.6.1rc1-i686 for general testing into the Lunar community. This ISO is an incremental update to 1.6.0 and features full updated packages, including kernel 2.6.18.2. This ISO is meant as a refresher for newer systems and new installs, reducing the time to get those updated to the latest packages and providing support for newer systems that require a more recent kernel for hardware support. The ISO has the same size and packages as the 1.6.0 one. -mm, -prepatch and -rc kernels were removed altogether from the build code, as they are too out-of-date for the general user."
